Biography

Mike is the Technical Team Lead of the Personal Protective Equipment Team at the Science Division of the Health and Safety Executive.

Mike has many years’ experience in health and safety spending the last 25 years in respiratory protection. Over this time he has been involved in all aspects of respiratory protection from certification testing, incident investigations, workplace performance studies, development of test methods, research and development of HSE guidance and UK and international respiratory protection standards.

He provides and contributes to advice and guidance on respiratory protection, and on PPE in general, to HSE, other government bodies, industry and users both in the UK and internationally.

Mike has been at the forefront of the introduction and development of facepiece fit testing in the UK, leading the development of the UK’s fit testing competency scheme and acting as a technical expert and the Lead Assessor in the UK’s Fit2Fit scheme.
