Mike Clayton



Mike has over 30 years of experience in health and safety spending the last 25 years in respiratory protection. Mike has been involved in all aspects of respiratory protection from certification testing, incident investigations, workplace performance studies, development of test methods, research and development of HSE guidance, British and international respiratory protection standards.

He provides advice and guidance on respiratory protection and on PPE in general, to HSE, other government bodies, industry and users both in the UK and internationally. Mike has supported HSE and other UK and international organisation such as the UK DoH and WHO in the response to pandemic influenza and Ebola.

Mike has been at the forefront of the development and introduction of facepiece fit testing in the UK, leading the development of the UK’s fit testing competency scheme and acting as a technical expert and the Lead Assessor in the UK’s Fit2Fit scheme.
