Biography

Amanda Nioi is an architect and multi-disciplinary research scientist at Heriot-Watt University. Her research explores the interactions between environment qualities and human health and wellbeing.

She is currently the lead Research Associate for the intervention study “Nudging construction workers towards safer behaviour”. The intervention aims to influence the behaviour of construction workers to reduce exposure to UV radiation (summer) or increase vitamin D intake (winter) via a daily text messaging system and supportive smartphone App. She is also interested in the effects of both indoor and outdoor environment qualities. Previous experience includes an investigation of the effects of blue light exposure on sleep/wake patterns and wellbeing in older adults and people living with sensory issues.
